About NUBS China

Nottingham University Business School China is a young business school with a strong international and research orientation. We are part of the EQUIS, AMBA and AACSB-accredited Triple Crown Nottingham University Business School. Campuses in the UK, Malaysia, and here in Ningbo, China, work closely together and offer the University of Nottingham degrees.

NUBS China currently has over 3,732 Chinese and international students with around 982 enrolled in postgraduate programmes including PhD programme. We have a diverse international faculty of 123, based in Ningbo China, coming from 18 countries and regions. English is the medium of instruction of all our programmes. We have strengthened our focus on high impact research, customised executive education and high-quality teaching and are expanding our academic staff accordingly. We have a vibrant research community emphasising research excellence. NUBS China is an international academic gateway for research on business, finance and economics in China and a centre of expertise on Chinese firms going global.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Lead, plan, and conduct internationally excellent research—both individually and collaboratively—generating high-impact publications in leading peer-reviewed journals, and regularly disseminate findings through conferences and other scholarly media.
  • Act as principal investigator on major research projects, demonstrating strong research leadership by securing external funding, developing innovative research approaches, and building collaborative partnerships that advance the reputation and impact of the academic unit and the University.
  • Lead and develop internal and external networks to foster research collaboration, organise workshops or events for knowledge exchange, and play a prominent role in academic communities, further enhancing the international profile and influence of the specialist area.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching across a range of modules within your subject area, providing curriculum leadership by designing, developing, and continually enhancing module content and learning materials to foster student engagement and academic excellence.
  • Supervise and examine Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and PhD students, offering expert guidance on research and practical work, and actively supporting their academic progress and professional development.
  • Provide dedicated pastoral care and academic support to individual students and tutorial groups, addressing sensitive issues where required, and contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment.

About You

NUBS China seeks to appoint proactive, mature academics who are self-driven and results-oriented, resilient and creative, with internationally recognised intellectual contributions in the relevant subject area.

Candidates should have:

  • A PhD degree in management or a closely related subject area.
  • A sustained record of publishing high-quality research articles in leading international journals.
  • Proven track record of successfully securing research funding from external sources.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching a range of modules to undergraduate and postgraduate students within a university setting.
  • Evidence of research leadership and impact within their institution and the wider academic community.
